Since its inception in 1994, the OK Group has had tremendous growth in the local and global markets. Their popular canned energy drinks – Longjack and KF, available for the past 20 years, are among the Top 3 energy drinks in the country and have garnered a large following from Malaysians of all races and backgrounds.
Habibul Ajmi Datuk Haji Manggar, The Managing Director of OK Group’s experience with all things herbal, goes back to his childhood in Merlimau, Melaka. Habibul, the eldest of 6 siblings, first got involved with the business to help his late father Datuk Hj Manggar Haniff, who started a small-time business at the back of their home.
The first product the family sold as ointments, including Minyak gamat (sea cucumber oil), Minyak panas (hot oil) and Minyak urut (massage oil). After a year, their homegrown business grew, and the demand for their products increased, with many customers repeating orders to solve their aches and pains.
That was the beginning of a new transition – starting its business and the Orang Kampung brand, from their backyard to the factory. The Group has three factories, and its headquarters is located at the Halal Hub, Serkam, Melaka.
Under Habibul’s leadership, OK’s product distribution is not targeted to only Malays but also Chinese, Indians, and others. Based on research, its database shows that its customers are of different races. Their products are sold at pharmacies such as Guardian and Watsons and other hypermarkets such as Giant, AEON Big, Tesco and Mydin – making it easy and convenient for their customers to purchase them.
Habibul has brought the brand to the global stage and expanded its market to countries such as Indonesia, India, and the Middle East. He is constantly championing OK’s products globally and that all OK’s products are 100 % Malaysian made that we all can be proud of.
